Exciting Opportunities: Two Canada Immigration Programs Welcoming New Applicants in 2024

In the coming year, two promising Canada immigration pathways are set to open their doors to new applicants, presenting an excellent opportunity for those aspiring to obtain permanent residency. Beginning in January 2024, these programs have a limited number of spots, making it crucial for interested individuals to prepare well in advance to meet the necessary requirements with supporting documents and secure a coveted spot in one of these sought-after programs.

Caregivers Pilot Programs:

Among the highly anticipated programs are the Caregivers Pilot Programs, namely the Home Support Caregiver Pilot and Home Childcare Provider Pilot. These programs, with a limited number of spots, tend to fill up rapidly once new applications are accepted.

In the year 2023, both pilot programs had a combined total cap of 5,500 applications across different categories. Notably, the eligibility requirements for the in-Canada caregiver provider pilots have been reduced from 24 months of experience to 12 months.

Under both caregivers' pilots, applicants can choose between two categories:

  1. Gaining Experience Category:

    • For applicants with less than 24 months of experience in NOC 44100 or NOC 44101 occupations.
    • In-Canada caregivers require 12 months of experience.
  2. Direct to Permanent Residency (PR) Category:

    • For applicants with 24 months or more experience in NOC 44100 or NOC 44101 occupations.
    • In-Canada caregivers require 12 months of experience.

Eligible candidates can obtain a work permit to accumulate the necessary 24 months of experience in Canada and then apply for Direct Permanent Residency after meeting all criteria.

To apply for Permanent Residency, applicants need:

  1. At least 24 months of full-time work experience in Canada in the last 36 months.
  2. Post-secondary education of at least 1 year.
  3. Any relevant past experience or training demonstrating the ability to perform the work described in the job offer.

To apply for a work permit, applicants need:

  1. A valid full-time job offer (IMM 5983 E).
  2. CLB level 5 in English or French (IELTS = Reading 4 and other modules 5).
  3. Post-secondary education of at least 1 year.
  4. Any past experience or training demonstrating the ability to do the work described in the job offer.

Family members of applicants with an acknowledgment of receipt letter are eligible to apply for an open work permit. The Agri-Food Pilot Program offers a pathway to permanent residency for individuals with at least 1 year of cumulative, non-seasonal, full-time work in the past 3 years in specified occupations.
